South Carolina completed a three-game sweep of Missouri with a 6-4 victory, highlighted by Dawson Harman's two home runs. Meanwhile, No. 6 North Carolina defeated Clemson 6-4 in 14 innings.
Apr. 11—COLUMBIA, Mo. — Dawson Harman, who had just one home run entering the game, went deep twice on Saturday as South Carolina held off Missouri 6-4 on Saturday to sweep the three-game series.
Harman singled in the first two runs in the second innings, hit a solo shot to right field in the fourth and homered to left field in the sixth. He finished 3 for 4, as did KJ Scobey, who added a solo homer. Ethan Lizama was 2 for 4 and Patrick Evans 2 for 5 with a double. Will Craddock also homered.
USC starter Alex Valentin gave up two runs on one hit and one walk with five strikeouts in four innings. Cooper Parks tossed three scoreless innings to earn the win. Alex Philpott got the last out for his third save.
A night earlier, South Carolina's Amp Phillips struck out 10 over eight shutout innings in a 1-0 win.
No. 6 North Carolina 6, Clemson 4 (14)
CLEMSON — No. 6 North Carolina scored a pair of unearned runs in the 14th inning in a 6-4 victory over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Tar Heels scored runs in the eighth and ninth to rally and force extra innings. In the 14th, a dropped fly ball with one out loaded the bases, then Tyler Howe's squeeze bunt attempt scored one run, while a throwing error by the pitcher allowed the second run to score.
Jacob Jarrell was 2 for 5 with a solo homer and two walks, Tyler Lichtenberger was 2 for 6 with a walk and an RBI, and Jack Crighton was 2 for 6 with a walk for the Tigers (23-13, 5-9 ACC).
Tigers starter Michael Sharman allowed two runs on five hits and a walk in five innings with six strikeouts. Reliever Dylan Harrison took the loss after allowing two unearned runs in 21/3 innings.
A night earlier, Nate Savoie, Jack Crighton and Jackson Moore all homered as Clemson won 9-5.
College of Charleston 6, N.C. A&T 4
MOUNT PLEASANT — College of Charleston tied a program record with 10 stolen bases and scored five runs in the decisive fifth inning to win its fourth straight game, holding off North Carolina A&T 6-4 at Patriots Point.
The Cougars were coming off a 6-5 walk-off win a night earlier on a walk by Will Tippett.
On Saturday, Landon Penfield went 2 for 4 with a walk and an RBI for the Cougars (15-19, 7-7 CAA), who ran wild on the basepaths. Reece Holbrook was 1 for 2 with two walks, two RBIs and three of the 10 steals. Alex LaCoste, who singled in a run in the first inning, also had three steals.
Cougars starter Jace Stancil allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings, striking out seven. Alex Lyon went four innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits, with a strikeout to earn his second save.
Wofford 6, The Citadel 5
SPARTANBURG — Wofford's Tanner Harden hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the third inning as Wofford held off The Citadel 6-5.
Sam Dansky went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs (16-18, 3-5 Southern Conference), while Jayden Williams was 2 for 3 with a walk and a hit by pitch. Aryan Patel drove in two runs and had a stolen base.
Bulldogs starter Michael Gibson allowed five runs on four hits and five walks in four innings with four strikeouts.
USC Upstate 15, Charleston Southern 9
SPARTANBURG — USC Upstate scored eight runs in the second inning and amassed 18 hits on its way to a 15-9 win over Charleston Southern.
Ten different players had hits for CSU (20-13, 5-6 Big South), with Ean Czech going 2 for 2. Garrison Barile had a solo homer, while Alex Marot drove in two runs.
Reliever Tristan Stephenson tossed two scoreless innings for CSU.
Dawson Harman hit two home runs and drove in the first two runs of the game, finishing with a total of three hits.
South Carolina swept the three-game series against Missouri, winning the final game 6-4.
No. 6 North Carolina defeated Clemson 6-4 after 14 innings.
Cooper Parks earned the win for South Carolina after pitching three scoreless innings.
