The South Jersey Baseball Mean 15 rankings will be influenced by the upcoming Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic quarterfinals and semifinals. The top eight seeds advanced to the quarterfinals, with the championship scheduled for Tuesday at Pitman’s Alcyon Park.

The Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic quarterfinals, semifinals and championship should have a major impact on next week’s Mean 15.
As for last week, the top eight seeds advanced to the quarterfinals on Saturday. Quarterfinals and semifinals are both on Saturday with the championship on Tuesday at Pitman’s Alcyon Park.
Even without major Diamond Classic upsets, there were some big developments among teams in the Mean 15.
Records and statistics are through Wednesday’s games.
**1, Gloucester Catholic 17-4, last week’s ranking No. 1).**After being named No. 1 last week for the first time this season, the Rams lost to Clearview 8-4. So why are the Rams still No. 1? Good question. Gloucester Catholic has split its two games with Clearview, and the Rams are 2-0 against No. 2 St. Augustine. For now, the Rams stay at the top. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 10 a.m. against Kingsway at Alcyon Park.
2. St. Augustine (18-4, 2). Since suffering a 6-0 loss to Gloucester Catholic, the Hermits have won seven in a row following Monday’s 13-7 nonleague vs. DePaul at Rutgers. Alex Weingartner continued his big senior season by going 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and four runs scored. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 1 p.m. at home against Clearview.
**3. Bishop Eustace (20-3, 3).**Monday’s 8-3 win over Seneca was the Crusaders’ 15th consecutive win. Senior outfielder Roman Faiola is batting .494 with three home runs and 29 RBIs. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 1 p.m. against Cherry Hill West at Alcyon Park.
4. Northern Burlington (19-1, 5). The Greyhounds won their fourth in a row following Monday’s 15-13 slugfest at Haddon Heights. Mark Klusman went 1-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 10 a.m. against Eastern at St. Augustine.
5. Clearview (17-4, 9). The highlight of the week was an 8-4 Tri-County Royal Division win over Gloucester Catholic as Ben Doney went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run and five RBIs. Wednesday’s 10-2 win over Williamstown was the Pioneers’ fifth consecutive victory. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday, 1 p.m. at St. Augustine.
6. Cherry Hill West (19-2, 6). A key win last week was a 7-2 second round Diamond Classic victory over Egg Harbor Township as Isayiah Pierce Gonzalez earned the win, allowing one earned run in six innings. The Lions have won five in a row following Wednesday’s 7-6 win over Seneca. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 1 p.m. against Bishop Eustace at Alcyon Park.
7. Kingsway (16-4, 7). The Dragons had a big 4-0 win over Haddonfield in a Diamond Classic second-round game as Tyler Rodgers threw a complete-game two-hit shutout, striking out 11 and walking none. The week ended with Wednesday’s 11-1 loss to GCIT. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday 10 a.m. against Gloucester Catholic at Alcyon Park.
**8. Haddonfield (17-4, 4).**The Haddons bounced back from a 4-0 second round Diamond Classic loss to Kingsway to defeat Sterling 10-2. Senior James Rowe is 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA. On Friday, Haddonfield visits Audubon. A win would clinch the outright title in the Colonial Conference Liberty Division.
9. Shawnee (14-7, 11). The Renegades played just twice during the last week, beginning with a 3-0 victory over Senecaas Lleyton Coughlin pitched a complete-game three-hitter, striking out nine and walking just one. Shawnee then beat Cherry Hill East, 4-3 on Wednesday, as Tim Dougherty allowed one earned run in six innings to earn the victory. Shawnee faces Rancocas Valley and Eastern Monday and Tuesday and can clinch the outright Olympic American title with a win in either game.
10. Eastern (15-5, 14). The Vikings saw their four-game win streak end with Wednesday’s 7-6 loss to Lenape. Eastern went 4-1 this past week, including a 3-2 win Diamond Classic second round victory over Haddon Heights as Rich Iuliucci earned the complete game win, allowing three hits and striking out 10. Diamond Classic matchup: Saturday, 10 a.m. against Northern Burlington at St. Augustine.
11. Mainland (12-7, 8). The Mustangs went 1-3 this past week, but two losses were to St. Augustine and another by a 4-2 score to Bishop Eustace in the Diamond Classic. Mainland beat Absegami, 5-2, in a Cape Atlantic League Tournament quarterfinal as Will Hickman allowed just one earned run in six innings. On Thursday the Mustangs visit none other than St. Augustine in a CAL semifinal.
12. Vineland (15-8, 10). After a 17-4 first round win over Shawnee, Vineland was eliminated in the second round of the Diamond Classic by Gloucester Catholic, 13-3. The Fighting Clan bounced back with Wednesday’s 12-8 win over Pennsville. Sophomore Don Menzoni is batting .379. Vineland hosts Egg Harbor Township in Friday’s Cape Atlantic League tournament semifinal.
13. Haddon Heights (12-5, 12). The Garnets lost three games last week by a total of four runs, to Audubon, Eastern (in the Diamond Classic) and Northern Burlington. Junior Cole Simon is batting .458 with two home runs and 24 RBIs. Friday the Garnets visit West Deptford in a Colonial Conference Liberty Division game.
14. Egg Harbor Township (15-7, 15). After losing 7-2 to Cherry Hill West in a second-round Diamond Classic game, the Eagles then beat St. Joseph, 14-0 in a Cape Atlantic League tournament quarterfinal. Dylan Salsbery went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases. He has now stolen 46 bases this season. On Friday, EHT visits Vineland in a Cape Atlantic League tournament semifinal.
15. Gloucester County Tech (14-8, NR). The Cheetahs scored an impressive 11-1 five-inning Tri-County Royal Division win over Kingsway on Wednesday as Alex Valay earned the complete game win, striking out six and walking one. It was the third win in a row after a 4-3 second round Diamond Classic loss to Clearview. A big game is on Friday when the Cheetahs host Gloucester Catholic.
