One of the area's top tournaments is scheduled for this weekend when St. Joseph Academy hosts the South Jersey Classic.
Top-ranked Gloucester and No. 2 St. Joseph lead the field, which also includes Donovan Catholic, Kingsway, Gloucester County Tech, Haddon Township and Audubon.
Donovan Catholic head coach Debbie Schwartz is two wins shy of 800 for her career. She would join South Plainfield's Dan Panzarella in the 800-win club. Panzarella set the state record with 848 victories when he retired in 2024 after 43 seasons. Schwartz won 501 games at Toms River East before taking over at Donovan Catholic.
The tournament's championship game is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m.
Here are the area's latest rankings.

1, Gloucester (7-0, last weekâs ranking: 1). The Lions have strung together three straight wins by shutout and have yielded just one run over their last four games. Junior Brianna Succio struck out 11 and surrendered one hit over four innings for her first varsity victory while senior Vayda Pino went 3-for-3 with two homers and six RBIs as the Lions knocked off Collingswood, 19-0, on April 22.
2. St. Joseph Academy (15-0, 2). The Wildcats have scored double-digit runs in eight games and boast a total of 159 runs in 15 games (10.6 rpg). The team won the Betty Howell Softball Tournament title with a 9-8 victory over Vineland in the title game last weekend. Alaina Dorsey leads the club with a .410 batting average, 28 runs scored, 19 walks and 24 stolen bases.
3. Northern Burlington (12-1, 3). The Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 12 with a 12-4 win over Westampton Tech on April 22. Junior Emily Shiner has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the Garden State with a 0.85 ERA and 127 strikeouts over 65 2/3 innings.
**4. Kingsway (10-2, 7).**The Dragons dealt Williamstown losses on consecutive days (April 21 and 22), scoring 22 times in the series. Karsen Taylor, Reese Whitzell and Ava Snyder â the teamâs top three in the batting order - combined for 17 hits, nine runs scored and seven RBIs in the two games.
The tournament features Gloucester, St. Joseph Academy, Donovan Catholic, Kingsway, Gloucester County Tech, Haddon Township, and Audubon.
Debbie Schwartz needs two more wins to reach 800 career victories.
Dan Panzarella holds the state record with 848 victories, set before his retirement in 2024.

5. Vineland (9-5, NR). The Fighting Clan completed the season sweep over rival Millville with a 7-2 home win on April 22. Leah Coia went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the victory. The sophomore has eight RBIs in her last four games.
6. Ocean City (10-3, 6). After a 4-3 loss to Vineland on April 17, the Red Raiders rebounded with wins over Rancocas Valley and Cedar Creek. Senior Jessica Mooney homered three times and drove in eight runs in a 21-15 win over Cedar Creek. She has 24 RBIs in 13 games this spring.
7. Rancocas Valley (10-3, 4). The Red Devils have won two straight following a 7-0 loss to Ocean City on April 18. The bats returned in those two games, posting identical totals of seven runs and 12 hits in each of those contests. Sophomore Payton Schwartz is batting .415 with 17 hits, including three homers, and 15 runs scored.
8. Clearview (8-3, 8). The Pioneersâ offense is heating up with 36 runs scored in their last three Tri-County Confernece games. Sophomore Ella Redheffer is one of the teamâs offensive sparks, batting at a .585 clip with 24 knocks, 18 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.
9. Cherokee (6-4, 5). After losing back-to-back games against Rancocas Valley and Cherry Hill East, the Chiefs responded with a pair of shutout wins over Washington Township and Eastern. Senior Allie Cunane twirled all 12 scoreless innings, including a five-inning, no-hitter against Eastern. She struck out an eye-popping 24 batters over the stretch.
10. Delran (11-2, 10). The Bearsâ offense has been in overdrive over their last four games, posting 57 runs over the stretch. The team had one of its best performances of the season during a 14-0 rout at Bordentown on April 22. Ellie Haskell, Arianna Martinez, Guilianna Garrigues and Maddie Spano each had two RBIs in the victory.
11. Seneca (8-2, 14). The Golden Eagles will ride a three-game winning streak into todayâs home game against Paul VI. The squad boasts seven players with 10-or-more hits on the season, including a team-best 20 for junior Emily Buddendorf.
12. Haddon Heights (8-3, NR). After a tough 3-0 loss to top-ranked Gloucester on April 21, the Garnets pinned a 7-6 loss on Cherry Hill East. Junior Emma Covello is the sparkplug for the offense with 14 runs scored, eight walks and 10 stolen bases.
13. Lenape (8-6, NR). The Indians have strung together three straight wins, including a 5-2 triumph over crosstown rival Shawnee on April 20. Junior Sierra Cranmer leads the club with 11 runs scored while four of her 11 hits have gone for extra bases this spring.
14. Cherry Hill East (5-2, 13). The Cougarsâ two losses have been by a combined three runs to Lenape and Haddon Heights. Senior Kristina Decker has accumulated 11 hits, eight runs scored, six walks and two stolen bases to help power the offense.
15. Bordentown (6-4, 9). Following a 14-0 loss to Delran on April 21, the Scotties get an opportunity to get back on track with a road game against Cinnaminson two days later. Sophomore Samantha Brown is batting .406 with 13 hits and six RBIs.
Under consideration (listed alphabetically): Audubon (6-4), Cinnaminson (6-7), Delsea (4-5), Gloucester County Tech (5-4), Hammonton (9-1), Paul VI (5-5), Pennsville (7-3), Timber Creek (7-3), Triton (7-4), West Deptford (9-3).
