Southern California’s Porsche Scene Loses a Legend: Doug Baron’s Tragic Final Drive

This week, the Southern California motorsport fraternity, and the tight-knit Porsche racing community in particular, is hurting after the sudden loss of Malibu resident and veteran driver Doug Baron.

Baron was far more than just a casual weekend driver with a fast car. He was a legend within the Porsche and wider car scene. Anyone who visited local track events knew his name, not just because of his undeniable talent and blistering pace, but because of the joyful person he was.

He elevated wherever he was, whether he was on a hot lap or just leaning against a fender, talking shop with fellow car enthusiasts. Baron’s personality was infectious. To say he will be missed is a massive understatement.
