Is that upsetting to hear? Well, you can now celebrate the unceasing flow of time by seeing the joint Michael Jordan-Looney Tunes production in theaters on May 20, as part of the movie’s 30th anniversary.
Warner Bros. and AMC Theatres announced the special event on Wednesday and will be offering either a collectible basketball cup or a Pop-A-Shot-styled popcorn bucket

The original “Space Jam” first hit theaters on Nov. 10, 1996 and has remained popular ever since among basketball fans. Jordan’s willingness to build a comedy film around his two-year hiatus from the NBA — combined with some good sports in Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley and Muggsy Bogues — made for a hit, grossing $231 million worldwide and drawing strong home media sales.
Among the other big names to pop up: Bill Murray, Larry Bird, Danny DeVito, Steve Kerr and several more NBA players.
Nostalgia for the movie has only built as 90s kids have grown up, which opened the door for LeBron James and Ryan Coogler to continue the franchise with “Space Jam: A New Legacy” in 2021. That featured a collection of modern stars Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Nneka Ogwujmike and Diana Taurasi.
The actor who played James’ son also just signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
