Michigan State Spartans are ranked No. 3 in early college basketball rankings for next season, just behind Michigan and Florida. The Spartans are expected to be a top 10 team, with some rankings even placing them at No. 1.
One of the top national college basketball analysts is extremely high on the Spartans entering next season.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports has released his latest early rankings for next season, with Michigan State landing near the top of the country. Rothstein has Michigan State listed at No. 3 in the country, behind only rival Michigan (No. 1) and Florida (No. 2).
Michigan State is considered an early lock to be a preseason top 10 team entering next season. A flood of way-too-early rankings have been released this past week and I haven't seen one yet have Michigan State outside of the top 10. Some even have the Spartans as the preseason No. 1 team, including USA TODAY Sports.
Michigan State finished this past season ranked just outside the top 10 at No. 11 in the Associated Press final poll. They reached the Sweet 16 for a second straight season, and are slated to return a number of key players off this past year's team.
