Coach Mitch Johnson knows how to make Harper pop off. Despite being on the bench, he was able to play for 26 minutes and ravage the Timberwolves defense. He knocked down six out of his eight field goal attempts while going 33% from three-point range. The Spurs rookie was also able to contribute two assists to keep their offense running.
Just like Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and the other Spurs greats, Harper is not just a one-dimensional player. He showed a lot of defensive grit and prevented the Timberwolves from even getting close to their lead. By the end of it all, the Spurs rookie notched five rebounds and grabbed a block.
There are still some holes in Harper's style of play. The Timberwolves did force him to commit three turnovers but those are things that he can fix with Coach Johnson. Now, he will be a staple on a Spurs squad that will be competing in the NBA Playoffs for a long time.
If fate and time permit, he will usurp Parker, Duncan, Robinson, and Ginobili in more feats.
