Steelers' Drew Allar draft pick, Aaron Rodgers decision and what it all means for Will Howard

He could retire, though, and that's a tricky spot for the Steelers to find themselves in.

Just a few weeks ago, they were talking up Howard as a potential starter. He was a sixth-rounder in 2025 after winning the national title at Penn State.

On talent alone, Allar has Howard beat. But Howard has spent a season in the NFL already.

Rudolph lingers as a veteran with starting experience.

If Rodgers decides to come back, this all gets simpler. He starts, and the youngsters learn behind him.

But if Rodgers ends up retiring, the Steelers have a bizarre QB competition on their hands between guys who maybe all should be backups. Somebody has to start, though -- that's just how it works.

Allar might still have a bright future, and could potentially benefit from learning under Rodgers.
