Allar is just the latest Steelers attempt to find their quarterback of the future, something the team has failed to do since the days of Ben Roethlisberger.
Pittsburgh drafted Kenny Pickett in 2021, but that did not pan out for them.
The Steelers then opted for Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but the jury is still out on the Ohio State product after not taking a snap last year.
Howard remains on the roster, but clearly the Steelers are trying to hedge their bet in finding the next franchise quarterback.
But Allar might have to wait at least a year to show his stuff, as the expectation has been that Aaron Rodgers will return for another season.
That said, Rodgers still has not made his decision official.
If Rodgers decides not to return to Pittsburgh, the Steelers will have a three-man competition for the starting job between Howard, Allar and Mason Rudolph.
