Reports previously indicated that the Steelers were anticipating having a decision before the 2026 NFL Draft, but Pelissero may have dashed those hopes following his latest comments.
āI have no anticipation Aaron Rodgers is going to announce anything prior to the draft,ā Pelissero said via The Rich Eisen Show. āI know that Art Rooney II had indicated that they hoped it would be around then. Iāve not been told that. I donāt think thatās really a deadline from the Steelers' perspective. Really, the important thing for Pittsburgh is having Rodgers there by the time OTAs kick off in mid-May."
Although he kept the Steelers waiting last offseason, he looked terrific in his Black and Gold debut ā throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2025.
Facing a similar situation ahead of the 2026 season, the Steelers can only hope Rodgers decides against retiring, potentially leading the team to their first playoff win in a decade.
