The Pittsburgh Steelers are thoroughly reviewing all the quarterback options they could consider during this year’s draft, and they are bringing in a player for a visit that many fans are likely familiar with.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is scheduled to visit the Steelers on Wednesday.
Allar played four seasons at Penn State, appearing in 45 games, throwing for 7,402 yards and scoring 61 touchdowns while throwing just 13 interceptions.
There was a belief that Allar could have been a top 10 pick before the last college football season started, but after he suffered a season-ending broken ankle in October, his draft stock took a hit.
Allar is expected to be picked either late in Day 2 or early in Day 3 of the draft, and he could prove to be a valuable find for Pittsburgh. Given that he missed most of his senior season, he may need a full year to acclimate to the NFL, and developing under the Steelers’ guidance would be an excellent opportunity.
If Allar can sit behind Aaron Rodgers for a season and then take over in 2027, he could develop into a solid option for the Steelers.
