On Friday, veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward shared thoughts on Howard and his place in Pittsburgh's quarterback room, expressing confidence in the young signal caller heading into 2026.
"Aaron's been a big fan of Will," Heyward said via The Rich Eisen Show. "Watched him from afar and watched him grow this year. Will is always going to compete. Will has always had the chips stacked against him. And now he's going into a year where there's a little uncertainty. Obviously, everybody wants Aaron back, but if you do go in a direction where you have Will, you feel pretty confident."
Howard, selected with the 185th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, reportedly looked strong at training camp before fracturing his hand, preventing him from suiting up during the preseason.
