Steve Kerr has seemingly found his next job after 11 seasons as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors â and itâs a familiar career for the nine-time NBA champion as a coach and a player, though it wonât involve a championship chase of any kind.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, ESPNâs top execs are close to convincing Kerr to leave coaching altogether and sign a deal with the World Wide Leader in a broadcasting role. As Stein notes, âit is more likely than notâ that Kerr is back in front of cameras for the 2026 NBA offseason.
Kerr has been rumored to leave the Warriors after a 111-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference play-in tournament. The way Draymond Green recently spoke of Kerrâs impact on his career, it sounds like the Lebanon-born head coach, at the very least, wonât be his head coach next season.
âWhen I think of who I was offensively as a player and who I became, I think a part of that is due to him. I donât hold that against him. Iâm forever grateful that he still put me in a position to be successful and that I could become Draymond Green despite my offensive role on our team,â Green recently said.
There arenât a ton of Green trade rumors. It was clear last week that Kerr was a goner after Green said this. Sunday's report from Stein simply confirms it.
