Stevenage need 'full capacity' performance - Revell

Stevenage boss Alex Revell has urged his players to be true to themselves as they look to seal a place in the League One play-offs.

Revell says his tight-knit group should be proud of what they have achieved already this season.

Victory over Wigan on Saturday would ensure a top-six finish, but Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle are lurking on their shoulder in case of a slip-up.

"The players have been outstanding this season and it's one more game to go and be us," Revell told BBC Look East.

"If we can do that, and we can do all the things that have got us to this situation, we'll give ourselves the best chance."

Stevenage have never played in the second tier of English football and chairman Phil Wallace has described it as the most important game in the club's history.

"It probably is, there's no two ways about it, with what's at stake," said Revell.

"But we had a massive game last week against Barnsley at home that we knew we had to win because we knew if we lost that, we'd probably be out of it.

"No game is easy in this league - we saw the results from Tuesday night and Port Vale beating Stockport, it's not easy. You have to be at your best every game."

Revell is in his second spell in charge of the team he once played for, having been reappointed when Steve Evans - who steered them to promotion from League Two in 2023 - left the club.

"We don't need to add any more pressure to it. We've just got to turn up, do all of the basics that we do so well, we've got to out-work, out-run and suffer for your friend next to you, which is what they've done all season.

"If we deliver a performance of our full capacity, we'll give ourselves the best opportunity. As long as we can walk in at the end of the game and say to each other 'we've given everything', that's all you can ask," said Revell.
