VICKSBURG β The Sturgis girls track and field team won its second consecutive Wolverine Conference Championship on Friday night. Vicksburg hosted the conference championships this year, the Trojans were able to hold off Otsego in team scoring to register the conference crown.
Sturgis scored 153.5 total points, Otsego was second with 141.
The two-mile relay team set a new Wolverine Conference and school record at the event. The team of Kinder Smith, Berkley Holtz, Tessa Hatt and Sydney Bir ran a time of 9:25.03, setting the new conference record by 17 seconds and a new SHS record by five seconds.

Olivia Wenzel of Three Rivers won a conference title and set a school and Wolverine Conference record in the pole vault on Friday.

SHS WINS TENNIS TITLE: Sturgis tennis wins first conference title in more than 20 years
For Three Rivers, Olivia Wenzel won a conference championship in the pole vaulting event. She cleared a height of 11-1 feet, which was a personal best and she also set the new school record and Wolverine Conference record as well.
The mile relay team of Smith, Holtz, Olivia Green and Bir won in 4:08.33. With that time, the Trojans met the MHSAA early qualifying mark and punched their tickets to the state finals.
Sturgis also ran away with first-place finishes in the 400 relay with Addison Eicher, Smith, Madelyn Oswald and Angela Cary posting a time of 50.67 seconds. The 800 relay team of Eicher, Cary, Bir and Oswald ran 1:46.42 for a conference title.
Holtz ran to first place in the mile run in 5:15.45. She also paced the field in the two-mile run, finishing with a time of 11:18.08.
Bir was second overall in the 400 run in 59.47 seconds. Juliet Mendoza ran to second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.79.
Cary cleared 5-5 in the high jump, it was good for second place.
In adaptive shot put action, state champion Vivian Massey was first overall at 18-2 feet.
Three Rivers saw Raegan Wenzel finish second overall in the pole vault, her height was 9-6.
The Wildcats placed second in a couple of relays as well.
Lily Kane, Na-ki Austin, Wenzel and Wenzel finished with a time of 51.67 in the 400 relay. The team of Bailea Krupinski, Kane, Wenzel and Wenzel ran to second place in the 800 relay as well at 1:49.06.
