The final piece of the staff puzzle has been completed. It took nearly a month, but the Orange have hired a general manager. Sources confirmed to Nunes Magician that Hampton associate head coach/general manager Greg Fahey will be named Syracuse’s GM. The story was first reported by Syracuse.com on Wednesday night.
He spent the last two seasons on that Pirates staff under head coach Ivan Thomas, adding the general manager title to his job description in 2025-26. He helped the Pirates record their two best seasons on KenPom since COVID — albeit both losing seasons in the CAA. Hampton jumped quickly from the MEAC to the Big South to the CAA, and had to adjust as a program and athletic department rapidly.
Before joining the Pirates, Fahey spent a year as a special assistant to Ed Cooley during his first season at Georgetown. Before that, he worked under former Cooley assistant Carmen Maciariello at Siena for four seasons. He was the Director of Basketball Operations from 2019-2021, and then an assistant coach from 2021-2023.
Fahey’s first Division I job was as a graduate assistant for Cooley at Providence after being an assistant coach for FDU-Florham for two seasons. He worked in EYBL with Albany City Rocks before that.
Fahey, 34, is a proud New Jerseyan, growing up in Randolph, but leaving the state to attend Marist College, where he got his start in college basketball. He was a four-year manager for Chuck Martin.
He’s active on TikTok, giving recruiting advice to aspiring college athletes.
Fahey is the final addition on staff. The assistant coaches are Jamal Brunt, Arinze Onuaku, Ben Lee, and Ryan Daly. Ryan Blackwell was named the Director of Player Engagement, Ryan Beaury is the Director of Basketball Operations, and Peter Corasaniti was moved into an administrative role.
