The Rams need more out of Braden Fiske in year three
The Rams are counting on Braden Fiske to step up in his third season after a disappointing second year.

Freshman Grace Kinsella has scored 18 goals this season for Lincoln-Way West, aided by her sister Kate, a senior team captain. Grace's performance has been pivotal in leading the team to a recent 4-1 victory over Lockport.
Grace Kinsella knew it would be a challenge stepping into a starting forward role as a freshman for Lincoln-Way West.
But she was also confident things would go smoother because she had a special senior leader as a teammate for guidance in her sister, Kate, a team captain and starting midfielder who is committed to Wisconsin-Platteville.
“I love it,” Grace said. “It’s great having someone on the team who knows me so well and can help me out. Coming in, I knew it would be harder playing against older girls.
“But I can definitely get it done.”
She sure can. Grace Kinsella is up to 18 goals for the season after scoring twice Tuesday night, leading the host Warriors to a 4-1 SouthWest Suburban Conference win over Lockport in New Lenox.
Olivia Stewart also scored a pair of goals for Lincoln-Way West (13-3-1, 4-2). Lucy Sheriff dished out two assists, while Jaiden Hughes contributed an assist and Cora Franczyk made six saves.
Bowling Green recruit Yuridia Hernandez scored for Lockport (9-6-1, 1-3).
Grace Kinsella got the Warriors going early, scoring off a pass from Sheriff in the 11th minute.
“Lucy crossed it into me and I finished it up top,” Kinsella said. “It was good. It definitely gave us confidence for the rest of the game.”
Kinsella made it 2-0 later in the first half, continuing a wave of production that she didn’t see coming.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect to do this much this season,” she said.
Kate Kinsella, on the other hand?
“Oh, I 100% expected this,” she said. “Grace has always been on the top club teams, and she always plays super hard and plays really connected to her teammates.

“I knew she’d be ready and she’d have success.”
Grace is also backing up all the hype Kate has been building up around the Warriors’ program for the last few years.
Kate told Lincoln-Way West coach Joe Stephens to expect big things.
“Kate’s been saying for years, ‘Grace is a great player, coach. I promise you,’” Stephens said. “So, actually seeing them play together has been awesome.”
Grace has nine assists to go with her 18 goals. Kate has produced five goals and four assists while controlling the midfield.
“Kate is our engine in the middle of the field,” Stephens said. “It’s fun to see the senior have the freshman come in and Kate has no problem telling Grace, ‘You’ve got to do this better.’
“The girls know it’s out of love and it’s a great dynamic that they have.”
Any criticism between the two sisters is always constructive, according to Kate.
“I love playing with my sister, my built-in best friend,” she said. “We connect well on and off the field. We never fight at home. We’re best friends.”
Grace did point out one exception to the “never fight” claim.
“Only if she starts it,” Grace said, with a laugh.
Kate was quick to concede.
“Yes, only if I start it,” she said. “It’s rare.”
What’s even more rare is the sisters getting to be teammates. This is the first time it has happened, although Grace got into soccer by watching Kate play and has always looked up to her.
“She started playing soccer and then I wanted to play and it’s been my only sport ever since,” Grace said. “I liked watching her and I liked the environment of the soccer team.
“She’s definitely my inspiration.”
With Kate just a few weeks away from graduation, the Kinsella sisters know their time on the soccer field together is winding down.
And Grace plans to savor it.
“I look forward to every moment and every last bit of it,” Grace said. “I’m trying to hold on to every last bit.”
