Tegan Kuhns achieved 15 strikeouts as Tennessee baseball defeated No. 4 Texas 5-1 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols took an early lead and extended it with key plays in the second inning.

Tennessee (33-17, 12-13 SEC) defeated No. 4 Texas (36-11, 15-9 SEC), 5-1, Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee led, 1-0, after the first inning as Trent Grindlinger hit a RBI single, scoring Blake Grimmer.
The Vols would extend their advantage to, 3-0, in the second inning after Manny Marin doubled. The Longhorns committed an error on the play, allowing Levi Clark to score. Marin later scored on a wild pitch.
Tennessee added two runs in the seventh inning after Grimmer hit a two-run single.
Grimmer went 2-for-4. He recorded two RBIs and scored one run, while Grindlinger went 1-for-4 and recorded one RBI.
Texas scored in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Aiden Robbins off Tennessee reliever Brandon Arvidson.
Tegan Kuhns (4-4) started for the Vols. He pitched seven innings and allowed four hits and one walk. Kuhns recorded 15 strikeouts, while totaling 113 pitches, including 82 strikes.
Arvidson pitched two innings. He allowed one run and three hits. Arvidson totaled 41 pitches, including 30 strikes.
