The Tennessee Titans finished off their 2026 NFL draft class by selecting Oklahoma tight end Jaren Kanak with their seventh-round pick, No. 225 overall.
This pick screams John “Bones” Fassel, who would look at his varied background and skill set to potentially develop into a special-teams standout. A former high school quarterback, he played linebacker and tight end at Oklahoma, and his NFL future is clearly tied to his special teams value.
His selection was the last for the Titans' 2026 draft class, and general manager Mike Borgonzi appears to have once again infused some much-needed talent into the Titans' roster.
But before all the fallout from that comes out, here are three things to know about the new tight end.
A versatile player in high school at Hays High School in Hays, Kansas, where he played linebacker, quarterback, and wide receiver in high school, finishing his career with a splash. The running quarterback set a school record with 1,615 rushing yards and 910 passing yards,
accounting for 12 touchdowns. He also ran track and posted a 10.37 in the 100-meter dash at his conference finale.
Kanak was the top football prospect in Kansas when he initially committed to play at Clemson after having 34 other Division I offers, including Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Texas A&M, and Michigan, to play linebacker. He would eventually flip to Oklahoma and spend his entire career with the Sooners.
After spending his first three seasons as a linebacker, he switched to tight end as a senior and flashed some upside as a natural pass catcher, earning Third-team All-SEC honors after starting all 13 games and pulling in 44 balls for 533 yards. He finished his college career with 52 games played, experience on both sides of the ball and on special teams.
