The Miami Dolphins shocked their fanbase last Thursday when they selected Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor with the twelfth pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after trading back one spot with the Dallas Cowboys â passing on two fan favorites, Caleb Downs and Reuben Bain Jr., in the process.
While many of Miamiâs fans were left stunned after the pick, apparently front offices around the National Football League were not, as they viewed Proctor as one of the best players in the entire draft. Donât believe me? Well, Iâll let former stud left tackle of the Dolphins, Terron Armstead, try and convince you.
Speaking on his podcast, The Set, Armstead had this to say about the Dolphinsâ selection of Proctor:
âYou cannot, for one second, undervalue quality, high-level offensive linemen. You canât have too many⊠You have to bring in top talent â elite talent, elite ability â guys that are willing to come in and make a difference. Kadyn Proctor gives you that. His potential, his ceiling is through the roof⊠Iâve known Kadyn for four years now.. Iâve watched him mature. Iâve watched him grow. Iâve watched his technique develop over time. Itâs only going to improve â only going to get better.
The Dolphins selected Kadyn Proctor because he was viewed as one of the best players in the draft, despite passing on other popular choices.
Terron Armstead stated that Kadyn Proctor was highly sought after by NFL teams, indicating strong interest in his talent.

Armstead would go on to say that he heard from multiple offensive line coaches in the NFL who said they wanted Proctor on their team:
âI had gotten texts from three different head o-line coaches in the NFL about Kadyn Proctor â that they wanted him in their building⊠So, if the Dolphins didnât take him at 12, he was gone in the next couple picks. No doubt about it⊠It went so far that one of the o-line coaches texted me after the draft pissed that he did not get Kadyn Proctor. So, take that, do with that what you please, but this was a guy that was highly sought after.â
Armstead would go on to say that Proctor was one of his top three favorite offensive linemen in the entire draft â naming Utahâs Spencer Fano (who went to Cleveland at #9) and Arizona Stateâs Max Iheanachor (who went to Pittsburgh at #21) as the other two.
