Texas A&M won 7–5 against Ole Miss, securing their fourth consecutive victory and another SEC series win. The Aggies are positioning themselves for a potential regional hosting spot as the regular season nears its end.
Texas A&M extended its win streak to four games and secured another SEC series victory on Saturday, taking down Ole Miss 7–5 in Game 2.
With the postseason picture sharpening, the Aggies continue to strengthen their case for a regional hosting spot. There’s still work to do in the final stretch of the regular season, but they’ve consistently handled the conference matchups they’re expected to win.
Unlike Friday’s explosive start, Saturday’s game stayed tight early. A&M struck first when Tallen Edwards lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the first, but a free pass in the bottom half allowed Ole Miss to even the score at 1–1. The Aggies responded with a productive third inning that gave them the breathing room they’d need.
With two outs and two aboard, Ariel Kowalewski delivered an RBI single to put A&M back in front. Moments later, centerfielder Kelsey Mathis launched a three‑run home run to push the lead to 5–1. Ole Miss, much like in Game 1, chipped away. A run in the bottom of the third and the Rebels’ second home run of the afternoon tied the game at 5–5.
A&M answered immediately. A costly Ole Miss fielding error opened the door for two unearned runs, giving the Aggies a 7–5 advantage with two innings to play. The Rebels threatened in the seventh, putting two on with no outs and advancing both runners on a groundout back to the pitcher. But with two outs, Kowalewski made the defensive play of the game, picking off the runner at second to end the threat and seal the series.
Texas A&M will go for the series sweep on Sunday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. CST. The game can be viewed on SEC Network+ and the ESPN App.
