Bucky McMillan has done it again; Texas A&M has landed a commitment from point guard and three-year G League veteran Bryson Warren in the transfer portal.
Warren broke into the starting lineup this season for the Westchester Knicks, dropping 19.9 PPG, 5.0 APG, 3.0 RPG, and 1.1 STL in 33 minutes a night. He shot a scorching hot 38.6% from deep and 53.6% from two; if he can just maintain these percentages, Warren will be one of the most dynamic guard scorers in the nation (alongside fellow Aggie transfer PJ Haggerty).
Warren is a truly prolific three point shooter, finishing third in the G League last season in made 3PT per game (4.2), third in 3PT attempts per game (11.2), and leading the league in made 3PT per 36 minutes (4.8). He shoots over 70% of his shots from downtown and finished at an elite clip.
McMillan still has work to do in the portal, but he has created potentially the best backcourt duo in the country. Haggerty was a top-five portal prospect and a top-five scorer in the nation, while Warren was just as lethal of a scorer at an even higher level.
When you think of the portal, you typically think of players transferring from one college to another. Warren, however, has never attended college despite his professional experience. He spent (what would have been) his freshman year of college in the Overtime Elite program, then jumped straight to the G League.
Warren isnāt the first former G League player to move on to college, but he just might be the best to do so. His former Westchester teammate Dink Pate already announced his intention to play at Providence next season, while Thierry Darlan suited up for Santa Clara last season.
