Spoelstra: No need to penalize Ball any further
Erik Spoelstra supports no further penalties for LaMelo Ball after flagrant foul.
The Texas A&M Aggies' 2026 freshman baseball class is excelling, with Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Jorian Wilson contributing significantly to the team's success. They have combined for a .321 batting average, 23 home runs, and impressive on-base and slugging percentages.
The Aggie baseball 2026 freshman class has been on fire recently, with the trio of Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Jorian Wilson combining for an incredible .321 batting average, 19 doubles, two triples, 23 home runs, and an OPS of 1.085.
Each freshman has brought a different quality to the team, with Partida leading the way as the all-around star hitter. His 43 hits place third on the team, only trailing Caden Sorrell and Gavin Grahovac, who are ranked the 25th and 53rd best prospects for the upcoming 2026 MLB draft, respectively. He ranks even higher on the team in home runs, with his 10 dingers only trailing Grahovac. Partida was a highly anticipated prospect after being ranked the 40th-best high school prospect, but he has still managed to defy expectations.
Kellner isn’t the slugger Partida is, but he shows discipline at the plate that is rare to find in freshmen. His .483 on-base percentage ranks second on the Aggies, trailing just the third-year Bear Harrison, and he leads the team in walks with 33 despite seeing just 100 at-bats compared to the second-placed Jake Duer’s 123. His .280 batting average isn’t elite, but he more than makes up for this with his ability to draw a walk and should only improve over his Texas A&M tenure.
If Partida is the all-around phenom and Kellner is the on-base savant, Wilson is the slugger. He has only 22 games under his belt, unlike Kellner and Partida, who have both played in all 34 games, with just 19 hits on the season. But these hits have packed a punch: 11 of his hits have been for extra bases (58% of hits; 4 doubles, a triple, 6 home runs). His slugging percentage ranks third on the team, while his six homers rank tied for fourth (if we adjust Wilson’s at-bats to match his teammates, Wilson would rank second in dingers with 12 on the season).
The freshman trio has been lighting up the NCAA this season, and, best of all, they each attack the plate in different ways. While Partida seems bound to head to the MLB sooner than later, the Aggies will be in good hands as long as this freshman trio is on the roster.
