Texas A&M has reached out to McNeese State guard Tyshawn Archie as part of their efforts to strengthen the team after losing players to the transfer portal. Archie averaged 14.3 points last season and could complement the Aggies' new star transfer, PJ Haggerty.
The 2026 college basketball transfer portal opened on Tuesday, and heading into his second season at the helm, Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan and his staff have already lost reserve guard Josh Holloway and Spanish sharpshooter Rubén Dominguez, who has since committed to Xavier for the 2026 season.
So far, senior forward Zach Clemence announced his intention to return for a final season, while Friday's news that the Aggies landed Kansas State star transfer point guard PJ Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game last season, should result in momentum given the veteran's elite ability and perfect fit in McMillan's offense.
So far, the coaching staff has contacted several intriguing transfer additions, including former Duquesne guard Jimmie Williams, and, according to The Athletic reporter Tobias Bass, the Aggies have also kept in touch with McNeese State guard Tyshawn Archie, who is coming off an impressive junior season after averaging 14.3 points and shooting 43% from the field.
While McMillan waits to see if senior guard Marcus Hill receives a waiver to return next season, filling out a bench that's been depleted this offseason is key, while Archie's fast play-style and efficiency near the rim are similar to Jimmie Williams, who both look like perfect fits.
