Golden State Valkyries open new season with win over Storm
Golden State Valkyries start 2026 season with a win over Seattle Storm!
Texas A&M junior LHP Shane Sdao rebounded against Ole Miss after losing his starting job, delivering his best outing of the season. Despite previous struggles, he showed improvement, lasting 4.1 innings with two earned runs and four strikeouts.

No. 7 Texas A&M (36-11, 15-9 SEC) fell to No. 20 Ole Miss on the road 5-3 in the first game of the series, as the Aggies' offense failed to produce when called upon, and ended the game with a poor .194 with runners in scoring position, while striking out a season high 15 times in SEC play.
However, one bright spot was LHP Shane Sdao, who, after losing his starting spot in favor of Ethan Darden, came in to relieve the Clemson transfer in the bottom of the third. While Sdao's struggles, including a team-high 6.55 ERA and an over-9 average in SEC play, continued, coach Mike Earley's belief in the junior remained, leading to his best outing of conference play thus far and a possible new role heading into the final week of the regular season.
Despite a shaky start, Sdao was locked in the rest of the way, lasting 4.1 innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, while striking out four with four free passes. This isn't a perfect line by any means, but the fact that, after back-to-back poor starts against Florida and Auburn, Sdao's mental state was clear, and his breaking ball was nearly impossible to hit.
While Texas A&M's injury issues look like the current issue plaguing the Aggies chances of making it out of the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament, if the starting pitching rotation is solidified, and Sdao outright earns his spot back, Earley's veteran team should get back on track to looking like a College World Series contender once more.
