Texas A&M's Jorian Wilson has emerged as a standout freshman, hitting 11 home runs and averaging .330 this season. His recent performances, including key hits against Florida, have caught the attention of national scouts.
No. 7 Texas A&M (33-8, 14-6 SEC) pulled off its fifth consecutive SEC series win after defeating Florida 5-1 on Sunday afternoon, and after losing Game 1 9-2 on Friday night, Texas A&M's prolific offense came allive in back-to-back days, led by junior first baseman Gavin Grahovac's consistent and powerful bat, while freshman outfielder Jorian Wilson has also been playing out of his mind over the last two SEC series.
Once an undervalued recruit with elite potential based on his 6'4", 240-pound frame, Wilson outright earned a spot in the starting lineup after showcasing his strength at the plate, starting every game since the Aggies' road series vs. Missouri, and has since hit 11 home runs and averaged .330 with 26 RBI on the year thus far.
Against the Gators, Wilson hit solo homers in Games 2 and 3, combined with five hits, while his MLB-level throw to home to keep Florida from making it a two-run game reached epic proportions, and further solidified Wilson's standing as one of the country's top freshmen with an extremely bright future.
Fellow freshman third baseman Nico Partida, who's hitting .317 with 12 homers and 38 RBI, is already considered a first-round pick in the 2028 MLB Draft, and after the last two SEC series road wins over LSU and Florida, Jorian Wilson's many tools are now evident to every national scout.
Second-year head coach Michael Earley should be considered a finalist for SEC Coach of the Year at this point, as the Aggies are in the running to be in first place in the SEC by Monday morning. Even more impressive, Earley's ability to evaluate undiscovered talent led to Jorian Wilson making his way to College Station.
Look for Wilson to potentially be named SEC Player of the Week after this weekend's performance.
