Texas A&M infielder Chris Hacopian will be available for the upcoming series against Auburn after recovering from a precautionary sidelining. The Aggies aim for their sixth straight SEC series win this weekend.
No. 7 Texas A&M (34-8, 14-6 SEC) took care of business on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Tarelton State 9-7, thanks to star junior Caden Sorrell's two home runs, while freshman third baseman Nico Partida delivered two clutch hits in the 6th and 8th innings, as the Aggie offense continued to deliver when needed.
This weekend, the Aggies will host No. 8 Auburn for a massive, ranked home test, looking to secure a sixth straight SEC series win, while the Tigers look to secure their fifth after defeating Oklahoma 2-1 on the road last weekend. For the Aggies to have a shot at leaving Blue Bell Park with another series victory, a healthy roster and the same pitching strategy that has produced results are key.
During last weekend's series road win over Florida, Maryland transfer infielder Chris Hacopian collided with star freshman outfielder Jorian Wilson during a routine fly ball, and while both players returned to the lineup, Hacopian was sidelined for Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons, while Wilson was back in the rotation and did not look hindered.
On Thursday, head coach Michael Earely stated to the media that he "hoped" both would be back for Game 1 on Friday, and on Thursday night, the first injury report revealed that neither Wilson nor Hacopian was listed, meaning both starters will be available for all three games barring any setbacks.
Texas A&M will host Auburn on Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will air on the SEC Network.
