Texas A&M & White Sox prospect hits first Triple‑A homerun

The hits keep coming for former Texas A&M star Braden Montgomery, who looks more comfortable by the day in Triple‑A. Through just nine games with the Charlotte Knights, the switch‑hitting outfielder already has three multi‑hit performances and is flirting with a .300 average, fueling growing calls from Chicago White Sox fans for a promotion.

Montgomery is currently slashing .297/.366/.432 with 11 hits and three RBI, but Thursday night delivered another major milestone in his climb toward the big leagues. With the game tied in the bottom of the third, Montgomery turned on a pitch and sent it over the left‑field wall for his first career Triple‑A home run, a no‑doubt shot that showcased the same power and bat speed he flashed throughout White Sox spring training.

He’s making it increasingly difficult for Chicago to keep him in the minors much longer.

Montgomery entered the season ranked No. 24 overall on MLB.com’s Top 100 list and the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox organization, trailing only standout shortstop Caleb Bonemer. His rapid rise is even more impressive considering he missed a large portion of the 2024 season due to injury. Since returning, he’s rocketed through the system, Double‑A dominance, a quick promotion, and now immediate impact in Triple‑A.

Montgomery is knocking on the door of his lifelong dream, and if his early performance in Charlotte is any indication, that door may swing open sooner rather than later.
