Texas baseball drops in new Coaches Poll after tough weekend at A&M

It was a tough weekend for the Texas Longhorns baseball team. First, UT visited bitter rival Texas A&M and lost a heartbreaker on Friday, got crushed Saturday, then saw Sunday's chance at redemption cancelled, but only after the teams waited over nine hours to try to get the game in. Now, Texas has fallen in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The weekend series at College Station wasn't the kind of return UT coach Jim Schlossnagle was hoping for in his return to Aggieland. Schlossnagle was head coach at A&M before taking over at Texas. Aggies fans were more vicious than normal.
On Friday, a rough night for starter Rugar Riojas turned worse when the bullpen arrived. The Aggies took the lead in the ninth and held on. Saturday, after a 1-hour, 38-minute rain delay in the bottom of the first, the Aggies batted around to put eight runs up.
Texas' chance at redemption on Sunday on Sunday didn't happen. Rain across central Texas delayed the original 1 p.m. start. The teams were held at the stadium as team and SEC official tried to get the game in. The game was finally scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. CT, but more rain cancelled the game altogether.
Texas hosts Texas A&M - Corpus Christi on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Then welcome the Alabama Crimson Tide to Austin over the weekend.
