Teagan Kavan struck out a season-high 13 batters and reached 500 strikeouts for her career Friday against Oklahoma but, Texas softball lost the fourth of its last five games, 3-0 to the Sooners.
"We kind of like feel like we wasted a performance there, right?" Texas coach Mike White said. "We had opportunities there a couple of times. We had some poor at-bats; we were chasing balls. But hats off to their pitcher. They did a really good job of pitching to her strengths and she made the pitches when she had to."
The Longhorns had six hits on 24 at-bats for their first shutout loss of the season.
To avoid its second straight series loss, Texas must win Saturday night but they may have to battle the forecasted rain.
"I think our offense is going to come through, and so I trust that no matter what," Kavan said.
