Texas Tech softball suffered a 3-0 upset loss to Texas State, marking their second shutout in a six-game road swing. Despite a 4-2 record overall, the team struggled offensively and failed to capitalize on pitching strengths.

For the second time in their six-games-in-six-days swing, the Red Raider offense no-showed the opposition and were taken down by Texas State in a 3-0 loss on Wednesday. Texas Tech was also shutout in a 4-0 loss at Utah last weekend.

The road trip can be considered a failure as Texas Tech showed its weaknesses in finishing off seven-inning games, few of which the Red Raiders have had to deal with this season. The offense also failed to generate the offense to help their ace pitchers when they didn't have their best stuff.
NiJaree Canady was the victim of Tech's poor offensive showing this time. Two of Texas Tech's three runs were earned while the Red Raiders couldn't solve Bobcats pitcher Maddy Azua, who struck out four batters and only two walks of the game came in the seventh inning.
The Red Raiders are now 42-4 on the season and squarely on the cutline for hosting a Super Regional based on recent projections. Texas Tech's margin for error to get there is gone, and the Red Raiders need to take this week off to fight the grit it lacked on the road trip.
