The 2026 NFL Schedule was released this week, showcasing when the best take on the best, the holiday games, and the international matchups. There was another interesting tidbit.
When looking at the San Francisco 49ers' schedule, they are going to embark on a journey that is going to seem like forever. With 37,909 miles between week 1 and week 17, excluding any playoff travel, this team will travel farther than any team has since 2002.

A game in Australia, Mexico City, and East Rutherford, New Jersey make up the three longest flights for 2026. All the while, they will be flying back and forth from Santa Clara, California, on and off every week.

The 49ers are going to have a lot of downtime to prepare and to rest. But they might be sitting on those flights just a little too long. This is truly a double-edged sword for this season.

The NFC West is going to be must-watch football in 2026. Following the success of the Seattle Seahawks and their Super Bowl victory back in February, expect each team in this division to try to be the second-straight Super Bowl winner from it.
Can the 49ers endure this grueling gauntlet, and who else is going to wait and see how much money is used to fuel these planes up this season?

No NFL team has traveled this far since 2002.
The extensive travel is due to the team's schedule, which includes multiple long-distance games and international matchups.
