Itâs the question that follows every transcendent Yankees player, and Aaron Judge is no exception: If he never wins a World Series, does it diminish everything else heâs accomplished?
On the latest episode of âThe Michael Kay Showâ on ESPN New York, a caller from Miami posed exactly that question â and Yankees YES Network announcer Michael Kay gave his honest opinion.
The short version: Yes, it matters. Not because Judge isnât great but because the absence of a championship will always hand his critics exactly the ammunition theyâre looking for.
âBut to say that it doesnât affect his legacy, I think youâre being disingenuous,â Kay said, via YouTube. âIt has to. Itâs something that would be missing.â

The bar is set impossibly high, and Judge knows it.
âDoes he have the core four? Does he have the great players that those Yankee championship teams had? No, he doesnât,â Kay said.
