Avalanche lead Stanley Cup odds, but Sabres intrigue bettors
New Jersey is increasing train fares to over $100 for a 12-mile ride to Metlife Stadium during the World Cup. This decision aims to cover transportation and security costs required by FIFA.

For those of you who are train enthusiasts, Iām sure youād agree with me when I say that NJ Transit is the envy of the world when it comes to commuter rail. Just look at it:
What would you spend to ride this modern-day Orient Express? $10? $20? How about more than $100?
If thereās one way to welcome foreign football fans to the United States, itās to fleece them $100 for a 12-mile train ride from Penn Station to Metlife Stadium that requires a stopover in Secaucus. You see, FIFA requires its host cities to provide transportation and security for matches while taking all the revenue for itself, and the New Jersey governor Mikie Sherill, not wanting to pass the burden onto New Jersey taxpayers, is hiking fares for match-goers to make up the costs.
I must give FIFA plaudits for somehow making the state government of New Jersey look less corrupt by comparison. Far be it from me to defend a politician from New Jersey hiking transit fares, but I sympathize with not wanting tax payers to foot the bill when they wonāt see any of the benefits. I would also note that poor olā FIFAās annual revenue is set to surpass $10 billion this year. Just⦠throwing that in there for no reason.
