Geno Smith was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders back to the New York Jets during the 2026 NFL Draft. The Jets received Smith and a seventh-round pick, while the Raiders acquired a sixth-round pick.
With pick 228, the Jets selected Kansas State safety VJ Payne.
While Smith came off three successful seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and signed a two-year, $75 million extension with the Raiders upon the trade, the move turned out to be a bust for Vegas. Smith saw a massive step back, throwing for just over 3,000 yards and 19 touchdowns against 17 interceptions, the most he’s had in a single season since his rookie year in 2013.
