Alpine driver Franco Colapinto has been handed an important piece of advice from football legend Lionel Messi after the pair met in Miami.
Colapinto, 22, produced his best finish in Formula 1 after coming home seventh in the Miami Grand Prix, ahead of Ferrariās Charles Leclerc and Williams pair Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
However, the Argentine was involved in a dramatic moment on the opening lap after he collided with Lewis Hamilton, causing damage to the SF-26.
Despite that, Colapinto showed what he is capable of as he secured his best-ever finish in an F1 race.
Ahead of the race, it was spotted that Colapinto met with legendary Argentine footballer Messi in the paddock, with the Inter Miami star handing the Alpine driver a piece of advice.
Speaking to Lo Del Pollo, Messi urged Colapinto to live his own story and to make sure he has people around him to help him navigate problems.
Messi said: āI think he has to live his own story. And be prepared for a lot of things, because when youāre in the public eye, things come at you from all sides, the good and the bad.
āAnd especially in the bad times, he needs support, with those close to him, his family, his circle, because in the end, thatās what helps him get through difficult times.
āBecause when things are going well, itās much easier and people get closer to you, but the important thing is knowing whoās there when things are going badly.ā
The specific advice Messi gave to Colapinto has not been disclosed, but it was described as important.

It is no secret that Messi is idolised in Argentina, and Colapinto admitted it was a dream come true to finally meet the eight-time Ballon dāOr winner.
As reported by ESPN, Colapinto said: āMany dreams have come true in the last seven days. Iām happy and enjoying the moment, seeing Leo here visiting. All the drivers were ready for the race, and I was with him in jeans.
āThe fact that he came to support me with his whole family is very special. Seeing my idol and the hero of all Argentinians again was great.
āItās a great result, and itās good to give something positive to Argentinians. Iām very optimistic; this is a good start, and weāre going for more.ā
