For the second consecutive weekend, Juventus got the win and the help that allowed them to potentially move closer to Champions League qualification next season.
This time around, Juve picked up a huge win over Atalanta in Bergamo, then saw Como drop points for the second straight week with Sundayâs loss to league-leading Inter Milan. With the combination of results, Juve ended the weekend in fourth place, something that maybe didnât seem totally possible before Serie A got back going after a very disappointing yet somewhat predictable international break.
To get those three points against La Dea, Juve manager Luciano Spalletti grinded out a result in the kind of way we havenât necessarily seen him go about since he arrived in Turin. But that was necessary considering how his team was playing on the whole and Juveâs ability to get the lead early in the second half.
It was that same second half in which Juve looked much more assured, much more organized than they were before the break â the kind of first-half performance that left you wondering how the game was still scoreless.
So now, as they prepare for Bologna to visit Turin, Juventus have their fate in their hands again.
What they do with it over these final six games remains to be seen.
