Itās a real low point for Chelsea tonight after the Blues were beaten at Brighton in the Premier League to make it five defeats in a row in that competition.
Liam Rosenior has defended his players by and large, but tonight he didnāt hold back, perhaps knowing that the end is nigh. He tried to take some accountability, but also admitted that he didnāt see anything close to an acceptable level from his group.
ā[We lacked] in the basics, in the pride that you should have in wearing the shirt, that was unacceptable. Iāve defended the players and I am accountable. Iāve always said that,ā a furious Rosenior said post game.
āAfter tonight, I think the players as well need to have a look in the mirror for what they put in. You can talk about tactics, tactics come after the basics. Having more courage to play, winning duels, winning headers, tackles, conceding terrible goals. That was an unacceptable performance tonight.ā
Heās not wrong. It was utterly pathetic from the players out there, regardless of the blame you put on Rosenior himself.
On Sky Sports, Gary Cahill agreed with Rosenior, saying players had ālet him down.ā
