The Weekend Recovery: Coast to Coast Victories
The weekend of April 10-12 was just another stepping stone to greatness for this generation's track and field athletes.
From coast to coast and across international waters, the tracks were HOT this weekend. From new high school records to a 19-year-old winning two national titles, this week's edition of the Weekend Recovery covers the top five performances to catch up on.
The West Coast was home to one of the biggest high school meets of the year, the Arcadia Invitational.
Traveling cross-country, Union Catholic (NJ) showed up to finish what they started.
After narrowly missing the National Record, running 3:48.83, the squad returned to the meet with purpose and unfinished business.
Sydney Chadwick (23.92) and Abriyah Thompson (24.40) set the tone for the event with strong opening 200s. They then handed it off to freshman Abbey Robisky, who dropped a 54.70 in the 400m leg to separate from the rest of the field. Paige Sheppard sealed the deal for the group in the 800m anchor leg, dropping a 2:04.33.
The result of that perfect teamwork was 3:47.35 - a new national record, by a mere 0.3 seconds.
The true coast-to-coast battle was in the 800m, where Sheppard went up against California's Braelyn Combe.
In the final straightaway, Combe came up on Sheppard's shoulder, with just 0.05 seconds separating them at the line. Closing in a 61.04 final 400m, Sheppard held on for the win in 2:05.07.
She capped her weekend in the 4x400m, where Union Catholic finished just 0.3 seconds behind Bullis, one of the fastest teams in the nation.
On the other side of the world, Cam Myers continued his rise.
The 19-year-old Australian is already a national record holder in the mile (3:47.48) and 3000m (7:27.57) after an incredible indoor season. This weekend, he chose to add two national titles to his growing résumé.
After winning his first national title at the 2025 Australian Championships, Myers came back ready to defend his crown.
In a tactical prelim, Myers took the win in 3:39.69. In the final, he stormed to a win by nearly three seconds, setting a new championship record in 3:29.85. Myers sits third on the Australian all-time list, only 0.39 seconds behind Hoare in 3:29.41.
Then came redemption.
After finishing second in the 5,000m in 2025 by just 0.36 seconds, Myers flipped the script this year, winning in 13:11.66.
Both he and runner-up Seth OâDonnell set personal bests, moving into the top 11 all-time in Australia.
At the Bison Outdoor Classic on the East Coast, Ryan Hagan of SUNY Geneseo was rewriting DIII history.
The 1500m competition was tight. Heading into the last lap, the race was close, and Hagan was in third.
With a blistering 55.40 final lap, Hagan surged to the front and crossed in 3:38.67.
The previous record was set in 3:40.06 by MIT's Ryan Wilson in 2023.
The performance does not just stand out in Division III, but his new best time puts him as the fifth-fastest this season across all three NCAA divisions.
Adaejah Hodge brought the heat down south as she was solidified herself as the NCAA queen of short sprints.
At the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, Hodge won the 200m and placed second in the 60m. Her performance in the 200m put her at the No. 4 all-time collegiate performer and No. 7 all-time in the world.
Making big strides on the big oval, she set a new school record at her college track in the 200m in 22.10. Expanding her reach past her school, she narrowly missed the collegiate top-10 list, now sitting in eleventh.
Her statement went worldwide as she set a new National Record in her home country, the British Virgin Islands.
While still early in the season, Hodge also ranks as the No. 2 time in the 2026 season, with Cambrea Sturgis running 22.09 the day prior.
At the Arcadia Invite in California, the Servite High School (CA) boys earned themselves not one, but two #4 high school all-time spots.
Three boys were consistent in both 4x100 and 4x200 glory: sophomores Jace Wells and Kamil Pelovello, and junior Benjamin Harris.
The trio started their record weekend in the 4x200m. With the addition of Jaelen Hunter, the boys cruised to a 1:22.76 finish. The stage was set for the high school after a blistering 1:23.47 performance at the Texas A&M Bluebonnet Invite.
Seeing double in the 4x100, they grabbed Jace's twin brother, Jorden, to earn another gold. Together, the Servite boys ran 39.70. Their previous best time came from earlier this month after becoming the first California high school team to ever break 40 seconds in the event.
Benjamin Harris took home three gold medals at the invite after winning the invite section of the 100m (10.32), with Jorden Wells taking fifth (10.42).
The Servite boys swept the invite section of the 200m with a photo finish between Pelovello and Jorden Wells (21.14). Jace Wells rounded out the finishes in 21.25.
