Thomas MĂŒller warns Bayern Munich not to underestimate Real Madrid ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg. Despite a 2-1 victory in the first leg, MĂŒller emphasizes that Madrid remains dangerous with talented players.
âThey can always hurt youâ â Thomas MĂŒller warns Bayern ahead of second Real Madrid clash
Having beaten Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Bernabéu last week, Bayern Munich will head into the return leg at home on Wednesday with a good chance of booking a place in the semi-finals.
However, even if Real Madrid may not be as strong as in previous years, they should not be underestimated, underlines former Bayern star Thomas MĂŒller.
âHonestly, Real Madrid are not quite as strong this year as weâve seen them in the past, and yet of course they are still packed with excellent individual players. They can always hurt you, they are always dangerous,â MĂŒller said, according to Sport1.
âThe whole season has been going well [for FC Bayern] and you can feel that the team is ready to take the next step. So the chances of reaching the semi-finals are naturally good, but you still have to take that final step,â added the 36-year-old, who sees the Bavarians as âvery stable.â
He went on to say that in a big game like the one on Wednesday, "things go up and down. Itâs not a straight line upwards. And because of that, you need stability so that a setback, a misplaced pass, or conceding a goal doesnât throw you off course.â
MĂŒller also praised Bayernâs coach, saying he has âwitnessed up close how Vincent Kompany leads the team and how the team responds to him."
"Itâs not just about technical and tactical aspects, but above all you can see how the team runs from the first to the last minute,â MĂŒller explained.
MĂŒller left Bayern after the 2024/25 campaign â Kompanyâs first season in charge â to join the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Thomas MĂŒller stated that Real Madrid is not as strong this year compared to previous seasons but still possesses excellent individual players who can be dangerous.
