Thirteen players from UNC's lacrosse teams received All-American honors, with six from the men's team and seven from the women's team. The women's team tied Northwestern for the most All-American selections.

Both the UNC menâs and womenâs lacrosse teams have had very good years thus far. The menâs team finished the season with a 12-4 record and will enter the NCAA tournament as the number three overall seed. The womenâs squad recorded a record of 16-1 and won the ACC championship; their only blemish is an overtime loss to top-ranked Northwestern. The womenâs lacrosse squad will enter NCAA tournament play as the second overall seed.
Further proof of the Heelsâ success was announced on Thursday, as 13 total Carolina players were named as All-Americans by USA Lacrosse. Six players were named from the menâs squad; the women placed seven on the All-American team. The UNC womenâs team tied Northwestern for the most players bestowed All-American honors.
The menâs honorees were led by Brady Wambachâs first team selection. Wambach was named the co-ACC Defender of the Year and is among the nationâs best in several defensive statistical categories such as faceoff win percentage (3rd) and ground balls per game (1st).
Ty English and Owen Duffy garnered second-team honors. Duffy is second on the team in goals scored, and leads the menâs team in assists and points. Rounding out the menâs selections are Dominic Pietramala, Mason Szewczyk, and Peter Thomann; all were named as All-American honorable mentions.
The womenâs teamâs selections were led by Chloe Humphries. Humphries earned the Tewaaraton Award last season and is one of the finalists again this year. Humphries leads the country in goals and points; sheâs already sixth all-time in goals scored at UNC despite only being a sophomore. Humphries is a first team All-American selection.

The men's team finished with a 12-4 record, while the women's team had a 16-1 record and won the ACC championship.
Foster Griffin struck out a season-high nine batters over seven innings, leading the Nationals to a 3-2 victory against the Marlins. Jacob Young contributed with a two-run homer in the first inning.

Sam Forrest and Eliza Osburn were also named as first team selections. Forrest was also named the ACC Defender of the Year. Rounding out the womenâs teams awardees are Kate Levy (2nd team), Kaleigh Harden (3rd team), Addison Pattillo (3rd team), and Brooklyn Walker-Welch (3rd team).
The menâs team will next face Albany on Saturday, May 9th at noon in Chapel Hill as the NCAA tournament kicks off. The women will start their NCAA title defense against the winner of the Clemson-Davidson match on Sunday, May 10th at noon.
