Despite a disappointing 2-4 week, the Guardians have positive highlights, including Angel MartĂnez's impressive performance. MartĂnez is hitting .318 over his last seven games and has been a key contributor in the lineup.
A 2-4 week has made for some sad Guardians fans, but thereâs still some positive moments to be found.
In his last seven games, outfielder Angel MartĂnez has hit .318/.318/.773, heating up from his previous two seasons. Heâs also been flashing the leather in center field, saving at least a few runs in some close games. In 2026 so far, heâs hitting .289/.330/.530 with five home runs and 15 RBI. Heâs been a key contributor so far, finding himself moving up into the second spot in the lineup for Sundayâs finale versus the Toronto Blue Jays. If he can continue to contribute in big moments, heâll be a key player throughout 2026 and into the future.
With both the Guardians and the Cavaliers playing up in Toronto this weekend, they had the opportunity to support each other during their days off. The Guards took Thursdayâs off day to support the Cavs in game three of the first round of the playoffs versus the Toronto Raptors. The Cavs then returned the favor by visiting the Guards at Rogers Centre for Fridayâs series opener. While the Guards didnât bring the Cavs any luck as they lost 126-104, the Cavs were able to provide some luck for the Guards in their 8-6 win.
After his hot start to the season, Chase DeLauter has been experiencing a bit of a slump as of late. That was until the bottom of the eighth inning in Tuesdayâs game versus the Houston Astros. DeLauter came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit the ball *almost* perfectly. It traveled to the left field corner where Brice Matthews had trouble fielding it. That gave DeLauter time to sprint to third base, clearing the bases and giving the Guards a 6-4 lead. This hit broke an 0-12 streak for DeLauter who has since been seeing the ball much better.
Angel MartĂnez has hit .318/.318/.773 in his last seven games and is currently batting .289/.330/.530 in 2026.
MartĂnez has moved up to the second spot in the lineup and has been a key contributor with five home runs and 15 RBI this season.
Fans can focus on Angel MartĂnez's heating up performance and his defensive skills, which have helped save runs in close games.
