William Schmidt got the start on the mound today as LSU baseball looked to get back in the win column against a conference opponent. Schmidt shoved the Gamecocks into a locker, finishing the game after six full innings of work. He only allowed one run on five hits, seven strikeouts, and one walk.
Grant Fontenot entered to pitch for the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, and he did not allow any runs as he slammed the door on South Carolina. The Tiger bats came through by scoring six runs on eight hits, led by Stephen Milam and William Patrick, who both went 2-for-4.

After the rainout on Friday, Schmidt got the start for the Tigers in game one, and he had a great game. Six full innings of work, and he only gave up one run on five hits, seven strikeouts, and a walk. His spectacular pitching helped get LSU back in the win column against an SEC opponent.

Grant Fontenot entered the game in the top of the seventh inning, and he showed out. Grant pitched three full innings and did not allow any runs on only one hit, four strikeouts, and zero walks.
