Three takeaways from LSU baseball's loss to Texas A&M

LSU baseball returned to the confines of Alex Box Stadium as it welcomed a hot-hitting Texas A&M team into town. The Aggies were fresh off a series victory vs Texas, while LSU was swept by Ole Miss last weekend. It was more of the same from both squads as A&M took Game 1 by a 10-4 score.

Casan Evans got the start for LSU on the mound, and the Aggies remained hot against him. Evans night finished after five innings of work. He gave up six runs on seven hits, eight strikeouts, and three walks. He gave up one run in the third, but it was the fifth and sixth innings that doomed him. The Aggies scored three runs in each inning to take a 7-2 lead. A&M held it from there.

Great game from Cade Arrambide

One of the lone bright spots of the night was the play of Cade Arrambide. Cade finished the night 3-for-4 with an RBI. He was one of only two Tiger hitters to have a multi-hit game.

Evans was rolling until the fifth inning

Casan Evans had seven strikeouts through four innings and had only given up one run. He was rolling right along. Then the fifth inning hit, and the Aggies started stringing together singles and scored three runs. It seems that there is always one big inning that dooms LSU this year. This time, it was the top of the fifth.

LSU hit the ball well

LSU actually hit the ball pretty well tonight. The Tigers had 10 hits but only four runs. This offense has got to find a way to bring baserunners home. The Aggies only had two more hits than the Tigers, but they had 10 runs to show for it.
