He is one of many Tigers starters bitten by the injury bug, with Tarik Skubal (elbow surgery), Justin Verlander (hip inflammation) and Jackson Jobe (Tommy John surgery) all rehabbing from injuries and Reese Olson out for the season with a shoulder injury.

The Tigers activated right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold from the 15-day injured list ahead of their game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, May 15. Seabold was originally placed on the IL on April 26 with left ankle inflammation and has made eight appearances for the Tigers this season, pitching to a 4.09 ERA over 11 innings.
To make room for Seabold on the roster, the Tigers optioned right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco to Triple-A Toledo. Vanasco has made four appearances for the Tigers and given up seven earned runs in those games, most recently pitching twice during Detroit's series against the New York Mets in mop-up duty.
