The Detroit Tigers are getting some pitching reinforcements.
Starter Casey Mize will return from the injured list to start on Saturday, per Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. Mize left in the middle of his April 28 start against the Atlanta Braves and was later placed on the 15-day IL with a right adductor strain.
The 2025 All-Star was pitching effectively through the first month of the season, posting a 2.90 ERA over 31 innings and recording a career-high 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings. He is one of many Tigers starters bitten by the injury bug, with Tarik Skubal (elbow surgery), Justin Verlander (hip inflammation) and Jackson Jobe (Tommy John surgery) all rehabbing from injuries and Reese Olson out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Mize won't be the only Tigers pitcher returning from the injured list this weekend, however.
