The Detroit Tigers came into the season with one of the best farm systems across MLB. With players like Kevin McGonigle, Max Clark, Bryce Rainer, and Josue Briceno as some of their top prospects.
And with Kevin McGonigle making his MLB debut, the club will be looking to replace a player of his caliber in the farm system later this summer.
Detroit was awarded the 22nd overall pick in the first round. And while they will miss out on a ton of top talent, there will still be elite players left to consider.

Tigers projected to take a gamble on the upside of a 6'3" prep bat
As of late, the Tigers have enjoyed taking a gamble on high school talent as opposed to taking college players. With their two first-round picks last year, they took two prep bats, and the same can be said for their 2024 and 2023 picks as well.
Keeping with this trend, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter suggests the club could take De La Salle High School shortstop Tyler Spangler with the 22nd overall selection.
"A terrific run on the showcase circuit last summer solidified Spangler as one of the top prep shortstops in the 2026 class, and while he doesn't have one loud tool, he is rock solid across the board with a great chance to stick at a premium position. He consistently finds the barrel, and has room to add strength to an athletic 6'3", 195-pound frame."
Spangler really started moving up draft boards this past summer. He doesn't excel in one category, but is great all across the board.
