Tim Tebow posts moving tribute following death of father, Bob Tebow

Former Florida Gators and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow announced the passing of his father, Robert Tebow at the age of 78, on April 24.

Tim shared his father's passing with a moving tribute on his social media accounts, saying, "Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home! Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is. He’s home. Forever!"

In a 2012 interview with Zondervan for the release of his book, "Through My Eyes," Tim shared that his father was his greatest role model.

"My dad has had a huge impact on my life, and not because of what he's told me, but because of the example that he was in front of me every day," Tebow said. "You know, it wasn't something that I had to go outside of the house to look for a role model. I had one that I could watch every single day, who when he said something, he did it. And when he believed in something, he went at it with all of his heart. And that was a great example for me, and I'm honored and blessed to have a dad who I can honestly call my biggest role model."

In 1985, Robert, or "Bob" Tebow, and his wife, Pam, moved their family to the Philippines to pursue missionary work. That move was the first step in the creation of Bob's life work and legacy, the "Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association" (BTEA). According to BTEA's website, Tim Tebow "accepted the responsibility of stewarding the work his parents began" in 2025. At that time, the BTEA shared a video of Tim talking about his "authentic... sincere... tough" dad, his love for people, and Tim's passion for continuing what his father began:

A public celebration of life service will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 7. In lieu of flowers, Tim suggested that anyone who desired to honor his father's memory could donate to the continuation of his father's work at the BTEA. Additional information can be found in his post below:
