It was far from the most comfortable of wins, but Minnesota leads its semi-final series over San Antonio heading into Game 2 on Wednesday. A fourth-quarter resurgence saw the Timberwolves nose their way over the line to triumph 104-102 and earn a playoff lead over the Spurs for the first time in their history.

Anthony Edwards averaged 28.8 points and 3.7 assists during the regular season, but couldn’t muster the same direct impact on the rim himself in Game 1. Star guard Edwards was questionable to even be available for Chris Finch’s side at the Frost Bank Center, but shrugged off concerns to help earn what could prove a pivotal road win.

Finch will hope his talisman can step it up and potentially start in midweek, provided he can overcome more of the knee issue that’s been plaguing him of late. A 2-0 series lead coming home to Minneapolis could be invaluable after the Timberwolves have won their last seven in a row when hosting the Spurs at the Target Center.

Victor Wembanyama contributed 15 rebounds, five assists, and 11 points in Game 1 after playing just short of 40 minutes. However, he’ll require even more help from the likes of Dylan Harper, Devin Vassell, and perhaps an improved performance from in particular if San Antonio is to tie things up in Texas.
