During the offseason, the Chicago White Sox decided to trade away Luis Robert Jr. They sent him to the New York Mets in exchange for pitcher Truman Pauley and Ronald Acuña Jr's brother, Luisangel Acuña.
Pauley was sent to Single-A to further develop, while Acuña was on the Opening Day roster, where he has spent the majority of his time in center field, and playing a few games at shortstop.
He hasn't been the best in the outfield, but that's not where most of the growing pains are this season. Those come from what he has done offensively so far this season.

Acuña is not known to be a big bopper, but he is struggling mightily with the bat in his hands this season. Across 28 games, he is hitting .165/.230/.177 with zero home runs and just three runs batted in.
That's not all that helpful for a team that needs to get the most out of everyone to compete this year. ESPN's Bradford Doolittle believes Acuña is running out of time to keep his starting spot in the lineup.
"He just hasn't looked competitive at the plate, too often putting tepidly hit grounders into play early in the count as if he were merely trying to avoid strikeouts. Chicago's options keep getting better, so if Acuña doesn't offer more with the bat, he's headed for a future as a utility player."
Better options are on the horizon with Braden Montgomery, the team's top prospect, tearing it up in the minors. The team also recently signed Randal Grichuk, despite being a corner outfielder.
Acuña is running out of time to show his worth. He needs to pick it up in the batter's box, or the front office will have no choice but to put someone else out there to see what they got.
